The Ministry for National Economy organised the 1st Regional Digital Summit, which took place in Budapest on 17 and 18 November 2016 with the participation of EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger and the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán. Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, ministers and state secretaries of the Czech Republic, Germany and Slovakia also attended the summit.  Mayors of “smart" cities and heads of significant international companies of digital economy and autonomous driving were also among the speakers.

As a result of the conference, the following three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) have been signed. The so-called cross-border MoU among the Visegrad Group countries lays down the frame of infrastructural and regulatory development for the sake of interconnected and autonomous vehicles’ use. The "Regional Start-up Platform" MoU defines the cooperation among start-up organizations in the partner countries. Regional automotive and ICT companies signed the third MoU in order to join the practical testing initiatives of autonomous vehicles, and be involved in coordinated developments, standardization and knowledge sharing.
