2nd Regional Digital Summit

Dear Visitor,

I highly appreciate the fact that Hungary is now hosting a regional conference on ever-faster digital development as well as social and economic challenges posed by digitalization for the second time this year.

In the current phase of the technological paradigm change, when digitalization and the Internet economy are fundamentally transforming production methods, the Government of Hungary considers it crucial to facilitate related processes through, among others, state incentives. Accordingly, the Government is working to establish a regulatory, education and economic policy background capable of assisting, more effectively than before, this transition to an innovation-driven economy, corporate projects and international cooperation.

Switching to a digital economy is expected to bring clear advantages for industrial production; however, we must also brace ourselves for the challenges brought about by this process with regard to competitiveness, productivity, the operation of international value chains, international trade and, last but not least, data security.

This conference, therefore, is focusing on topics such as industrial digitalization in general and the development of intelligent vehicles, e-mobility and the urban systems of e-mobility in particular. Along with that, we wish to pay special attention to fostering other digitalization-related fields, such as e-finance, cyber security and e-government.

Given the fact that the CEE region is already Europe’s growth engine, and it has become an internationally recognized automotive manufacturing hub, cooperation in this aspect may yield especially great results.

I hope that this conference helps strengthen cooperation between the region’s countries in terms of the use of digital technologies and the automotive industry. I am fully convinced that thus we can assist our countries to use opportunities provided by digital technologies in an even more rewarding way.

I wish fruitful talks and a great time in Budapest to every participant of the conference.

2nd Regional Digital Summit

Urban mobility – Techology ecosystems

25-26 January 2018 Budapest, Hungary

Venue: The BÁLNA (1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 11-12.)

About the 2nd Regional Digital Summit

One of the V4 presidency's flagship priorities is digitization and the digital transformation of the economy.  The Ministry for National Economy took the lead and for the second time, organises the Regional Digital Summit on 25-26 January 2018 timely, as part of Hungary’s V4 Presidency Program.

The conference will continue to regard the future of the automotive industry as a basic mission, in particular the new industry value chain processes driven by software driven autonomous management technologies. Our goal is to speed up regional partnerships at both governmental and institutional / enterprise levels, enabling the region's digitization players to actively engage in pilot programs at European level defining the future of smart vehicle manufacturing.

The 2nd RDS goes beyond the geographical and thematic focus of the first conference. In addition to the V4 countries, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria's economic ministers and the Secretary of Commerce of Indiana (USA), and as special guest Israel are invited. In addition to the automotive industry, new areas such as fintech / blockchain, e-payment processes, will be presented to illustrate the platform's business trends. The second professional day is featured with internationally renowned performers, industry executives, international professional and advocacy leaders, and key players in startup ecosystems.

Global challenges, development of digital economy: The concept’s main pillars are the introduction of digital platforms and the dominant technological elements of shared economy, namely I.4.0 (I.4.0 landscape) and the blockchain mechanism.

The former focuses on the global value chain processes of the digitized industry including in particular the intelligent vehicle development and the intricate digital transformation archive of e-mobility, and the radical transformation and reintegration of value chain mechanics, with intelligent vehicle development and trends of urban e-mobility (urban mobility). While the latter intends to explore the possibilities and the social constraints of technology from Fintech's businesses, through the spread of electronic financial services to the paper-free operation of office work.

The aim is to review and discuss both themes of the event with the participation of internationally renowned researchers and experts. Our goal is to introduce the transformation of value chain processes from the different point of view of decision-makers.

According to the general approach, significant factors on the one hand are: digital platforms, manufacturer supplier network (I.4.0), system integrators, financial services’ bodies, public services and e-government development innovators, technical and service providers. On the other hand, authorities who regulate policies and catalyze processes at global, regional, national and local level are also significant. Moreover, the conference devotes particular attention to primary organizing entity of the e-mobility process namely introduction of co-operative systems of the metropolitan networks at the local government level.

As a result, the conference focuses on the future of the automotive industry with special regard to the new industry value chain processes triggered by software-driven, autonomous management technologies. At the same time, our conference focuses on a more integrated approach of the technological and social innovations for that reason we wish to extend its scope to global dimension with screening the best practices.

The main goal of the conference is to speed up the cooperation in the region at governmental, institutional and entrepreneurial level which could bring Central Europe to a leading position in the digitalization and make it possible to its players to get engaged in intelligent vehicle manufacturing and in European pilot projects in the fields of European and urban mobility.
